About MSUBS

Lomonosov Moscow State University Business School (MSUBS) opened its doors in March 2001, following the decision of the Academic Council of Moscow State University, Russia’s leading academic institution.

The idea to establish a business school at Moscow State University first emerged in 1988, championed by the Rector of the University, Academician Viktor A. Sadovnichiy. Inspired by visits to Oxford and Cambridge, he envisioned a school that would integrate the strengths of classical education with modern business training. This vision laid the foundation for MSUBS.

Today, MSUBS is recognised internationally for the quality of its academic programmes and its global engagement. According to the Eduinversal international ranking, the School is listed among the top 100 business schools worldwide and holds the prestigious “School with the Highest International Influence” status. It is also consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in Eastern Europe.

As part of a globally connected academic community, MSUBS actively develops partnerships with universities and business schools around the world. The School blends classical university traditions with innovative teaching methods, offering students an international learning environment that prepares them for careers across borders.

MSUBS fosters an environment where employees, faculty, students, and business leaders share values of mutual respect and recognition. The School is committed to developing globally minded professionals equipped to navigate the challenges of today’s dynamic business landscape.

We are Different: Principles of MSUBS

Management is about people. The basis of management is ethics and morality.
Be different. Being different from others is very difficult, but it will be the basis of success in the XXI century.
To comprehend and develop business and management, a transcendental number of «self» is necessary, like «π» in mathematics.
The type of management is based on national behavioral stereotypes. But some elements can and should be adopted.
Teaching, learning and education are not equivalents. Not even synonyms. Education should give a vision, including a vision of the future.
The future doesn’t resemble anything. It doesn’t grow out of anything – it comes to us. Comes from the day after tomorrow.
The features of the future can be seen. It requires insight, intuition, openness.
There is nothing universal in management – neither knowledge, nor recipes. To be successful, you need to see opportunities where others see a problem.
Making predictions about the future is extremely risky. But some predictions come true.
Some schemes, models and ideas are quite viable, even after a long period of time.
