On Tuesday, March 21, one could be quite surprised to see ladies in pretty dresses and hats and gentlemen in suits walking down the halls of our Business School. This was part of the event hosted by ESL Department designed to celebrate the famous English tradition.
Tea was served with homemade scones with cream and jam, the famous cucumber sandwiches, and shortbread cookies. The hosts were telling the guests of the history of the afternoon tea, its elements and etiquette. The freshmen students presented scenes of tea parties from classic English literature, The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Pygmalion by G.B. Shaw, and Alice in the Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
Besides, the programme included a quiz on tea, tea etiquette, and tea party attributes that the guests found particularly exciting. The time flew by and the experience was so enjoyable that one may hope that the tea parties shall become a tradition at MSUBS as well.
