LMSUBS representatives took part in the Business Accreditation Seminar of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) held on November 21-22 in Lisbon. The seminar brought together more than 30 participants from 17 countries around the world representing different business schools at different stages of the AACSB accreditation process.
Timothy Mescon, senior vice-president of AACSB International, coordinating director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, spoke about the benefits of membership in the AACSB and the process of obtaining accreditation. In the course of his speech, Timothy Mescon elaborated on 15 accreditation standards which would guide the educational process within business schools at the beginning of their way to AACSB accreditation. During the two-day program of the event, which included speakers’ presentations, case studies, group discussions, the participants got a better idea of the accreditation process and its difficulties, had the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the foreign colleagues’ experience whose schools had already received AACSB accreditation.
AACSB was established in 1916 to accredit business schools of USA universities. For today AACSB is a global network of more than 1,400 educational institutions, and the accreditation of this organization has become a benchmark for business schools around the world.
